چکیده

Camellia, a 128–bit block cipher which has been accepted by ISO/IEC as an international standard, is increasingly being used in many cryptographic applications. In this paper, using the redundancy in the key schedule and accelerating the filtration of wrong pairs, we present a new impossible differential attack to reduced–round Camellia. By this attack 12–round Camellia–128 without FL/FL−1 functions and whitening is breakable with a total complexity of about 2 encryptions and 2 chosen plaintexts. In terms of the numbers of the attacked rounds, our attack is better than any previously known attack on Camellia–128.

Impossible Differential Cryptanalysis of Reduced-Round Midori64 Block Cipher (Extended Version)

Impossible differential attack is a well-known mean to examine robustness of block ciphers. Using impossible differ- ential cryptanalysis, we analyze security of a family of lightweight block ciphers, named Midori, that are designed considering low energy consumption. Midori state size can be either 64 bits for Midori64 or 128 bits for Midori128; however, both vers...

New Impossible Differential Attacks on Camellia

Camellia is one of the most worldwide used block ciphers, which has been selected as a standard by ISO/IEC. In this paper, we propose several new 7-round impossible differentials of Camellia with 2 FL/FL−1 layers, which turn out to be the first 7-round impossible differentials with 2 FL/FL−1 layers. Combined with some basic techniques including the early abort approach and the key schedule cons...

Security of Reduced Version of the Block Cipher Camellia against Truncated and Impossible Differential Cryptanalysis

This paper describes truncated and impossible differential cryptanalysis of the 128-bit block cipher Camellia, which was proposed by NTT and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation. Our work improves on the best known truncated and impossible differential cryptanalysis. As a result, we show a nontrivial 9-round byte characteristic, which may lead to a possible attack of reduced-round version of Camelli...

New Observations on Impossible Differential Cryptanalysis of Reduced-Round Camellia

Camellia is one of the widely used block ciphers, which has been selected as an international standard by ISO/IEC. In this paper, by exploiting some interesting properties of the key-dependent layer, we improve previous results on impossible differential cryptanalysis of reduced-round Camellia and gain some new observations. First, we introduce some new 7-round impossible differentials of Camel...

A new method for accelerating impossible differential cryptanalysis and its application on LBlock

Impossible differential cryptanalysis, the extension of differential cryptanalysis, is one of the most efficient attacks against block ciphers. This cryptanalysis method has been applied to most of the block ciphers and has shown significant results. Using structures, key schedule considerations, early abort, and pre-computation are some common methods to reduce complexities of this attack. In ...
